Cannes, 22-24 June 2025

A five hour cruise from St. Tropez.

As the weather was lovely, the first idea was to anchor between the Iles de Levins. The strait was however so crowded with anchored boats, that we gave up anchoring and continued to Cannes Vieux Port.

Next disappointment was that the old port was completely full and rejected us.

Finally we tried Port Canto - with success. However, some confusion at the approach because of many incoming boats - but they accepted us eventually. The 'Capitainerie' (port authority) actually proved to be very professional and helpful.

It seemed that faith was with us (even though I don't believe in faith) as the port was very nice and only walking distance from the beach and 'La Croisette' - the famous promenade with all the expensive hotels.

Cannes really surprised us, as we expected a posh and glamourous city, without room for hillbillies like us. It was all that, but also a very charming old town with an impressive castle and alleys, reveiling numerous cosy restaurants. And everywhere we were respectfully and friendly treated.

The clous was cocktails and evening swim at the beach with practically no other people than us - pure magic...

...and by-the-way, we also had some good food onboard Sakura :-)

Bottom line: Cannes ***** (5 stars)
