Nice, or actually, Villefrance-sur-Mer,

24-26 June 2025

The old port of Nice did not have available space for us, so we tried our luck on the other side of the peninsular at Villefranche-sur-Mer

That was a circus. I called the harbourmaster's office several times and could not get a clear response. Each time I called, we had to start all over. What are you asking? What is the name of the boat? They seemed to be in panic over an English speaking guest.

So we went to the port, and got the message that we should return after 12. And when we returned, they blamed us having entered the port without authorisation - but said they would call us back at 2 pm. Which they didn't, so I called them and we had to start all over again...What do you want? What is the name of the boat....

Anyway, they finally accepted us - but screwed up the morning lines and wanted all papers right away including passport. First time on the whole voyage, we have met that request.

Villefranche is an ok village - but the harbour administration is really a pain, in particular if you are not a fluent French speaker.

From Villefranche to Nice there was regular train connection - only 7 min. ride.

So, what about Nice - was it nice?

In Danish: 'De fede må svede'

Fashionable houses all over

Pepper trees are common in Nice - adds a spicy scent to the walk

It was melting hot the day we visited Nice, and the so-called regular train connection was not regular at all...

Anyway, Nice has it all. From the impressive 'Promenade des Anglais' over the narrow streets of old town to the expensive boulevards in the heart of Nice.

But, probably due to the heat we had enough after 4-5 hours, and returned to the tranquility of Villefranche-sur-Mer.
