From the various weather forecasts we knew that some bad weather were on its way. So, we tried to find a place that could combine reasonable shelter with an interesting location.
Fezzano was our choice, and we did not regret it. Located in the bay of La Spezia, also referred to as the Bay of Poets, it showed to be perfect.
On our way we passed the famous 'Cinque Terres', five villages with colourful houses, clinging to the steep cliffs. Also a checkmark to the bucket list :-)
Fezzano became our home for four nights. The weather conditions became exactly as bad as forecasted, beginning with a brief thunderstorm, followed by heavy wind. However, it also brought some lower temperatures that were really appreciated.
Thunder on its way.
And rain...
We entered the Bay of Poets through a quite narrow strait at Porto Venere.
On the day we crossed the strait, the sea was calm. So apart from a lot of boat traffic, it was not dramatic, even though a bit shallow (someplace < 4 meters)

When we returned to Porto Venere by bus, two days later, the situation was different - the Med was really showing its teeth
Porto Venera is a great place. Almost the same charm as Portofino, but without the superyachts and tourist fuzz.
Highly recommend :-)
