Viareggio, 9-12 July 2025

Why Viareggio? Well, it was convenient short distance from Fezzano and the city is resting beatifully at the foot of the Alps, with good train connections to nearby Lucca and Pisa.

The weather was with us, and for the first time in the Med, we sailed almost al the way for sail - no engine assist - the Skipper was happy :-)

'Sailing the Med is boring', a Dutch fellow sailer told me on our way here. Either there is no wind or too much wind. And from a pure sail enthusiast point of view, I have to admit he was somewhat right. But thankfully, the atmosphere, the history, the climate, the people and the locations, are very far from boring.

Sailing to Viareggio...

Lucca - worth a visit...

Pisa - and yes, the tower is still there...

It must be the support from all the stupid tourists (like us) that keeps it standing...
