Brunsbüttel-Cuxhaven
- The locks at this end are very busy and it is quite challenging to manoeuvre between all the big ships
- Heavy current on the Elbe side. Up to 5 kts when we got to Cuxhaven - but with us. You need to turn in due time not to overshoot the harbour entrance!
- We are now in tide-territory, which is causing the heavy current. At Cuxhaven tide difference is about 2.5 meters
We chose the City Marina behind the old harbour. You need to pass lock and a bridge to get in there, but it opens at least every hour and when in there you are well protected and in the middle of the city
The big-ship route is very close to the shore. The very characteristic German sun-chairs are scattered on the beach and everywhere
Cuxhaven city is not very interesting. But the beachfront is quite fascinating
