Amsterdam-Dortrecht via Kaag and Gouda

  • Further on the Staande Mastroute. Had to go via Haarlem as the route through Amsterdam was closed at the Southern end
  • Haarlem involved 10 bridges and you had to pay a fee. The machine at the harbour master office didn't work, so we were allowed to pass for free :-)
  • Had a stopover at a marina near Kaag - helpful harbour master but quite boring place
  • Next day continuing on Staande Mastroute. Had to wait 4 hours at a railway bridge!!!
  • Found a marina in Gouda we thought would be great. However very narrow - and we bumped our keel into something at the entrance. Very industrial environment, so we had only one night there
  • Next day's trip was scheduled to 4 hours - but took actually 6 hours, including waiting time at bridges and locks
  • Arrived at Dortrecht at 5 pm and found a marina behind a bridge in the city center - really nice place!
  • Stayed for two nights as the next day had really bad forecast with rain-rain-rain - which proved to be right
