Dortrecht-Breskens
- Stop-overs in a rural and very remote marina at the Volkerak fjord, at Veerse Meer and in the city of Middelburg
- Stayed two nights at Volkerak due to very windy conditions on Saturday
- Delta Marine at Veerse Meer was nice but very expensive
- Middelburg was nice and reasonably priced. Good location of Arne Marina in the middle of the town
- Numerous bridges and locks passed
At Volkerak, the boat next to us was owned by a very sweet young couple who had come there to marry!
Unfortunately, they were not lucky with the weather.
They were supposed to arrive at the restaurant right next to the marina on their boat - very romantic. However, a bit stressfull in 12 m/s!!!
We helped sending them off well, together with the marina community, and they succeeded with the wedding celebration in spite of the weather conditions.
About locks...
When mixed with commercial ships you feel very small in a lock as a sailing yacht.
The next picture shows the result of a jamming mooring line when water was lowered in the lock. Nothing else to do than cut the rope - and it was in the last moment before we were hung on the wall to dry!!!!

This is the last destination in Holland - no more locks and bridges - back at the sea and tidal conditions - 4 m difference here at Breskens
