Amsterdam

Enkhuizen-Amsterdam

  • Light wind - as usual, right in our nose, made us choose the lazy way, motoring all the way
  • Winds increased to 8-10 m/s as we approached Amsterdam
  • Had to wait 2 h for bridge opening due to rush hour restrictions (16:00-18:00) - and we arrived 16:15
  • We had Sixhaven Marina recommended, which we chose to follow. Had a berth assigned over the phone, 10 minutes before arrival
  • Had to dock under heavy wind and very narrow conditions in marina - quite challenging in a 12 m boat without thrusters - but we succeeded after some attempts and with kind assistance from helpful fellow sailors

Lighthouse at Amsterdam approach.

Amsterdam was our first major checkpoint on the journey. It took us a little more than 4 weeks travelling the 524 nautical miles.

A milestone accomplished!

Amsterdam - what's not to like :-)

Visited the national museum. Mostly famous for its Rembrandt collection.

Here, the most famous of them all, 'The Night watch' - having the frame renewed.

Impressing to see the skill by 'the master of light',  Rembrandts nickname
